Acting Viceroy Lao Ch'ung-kuang of Liang-Kuang to H. Parkes and M. Martineau. Thanks them for their visit two days ago when he took office as Governor of Kwangtung and as Acting Viceroy of Liang-Kuang. Will do all he can to facilitate reclamation of Shameen but rents must be paid once British and French merchants begin to occupy it.
