Kuei-liang et al. to Bruce. Note Bruce's refusal to change original decision to proceed to Peking directly. Will send letter to Emperor by express, requesting appointment of high-ranking official to go to Tientsin to receive Bruce, and will hurry back toPeking themselves. Request that on arrival at Tientsin, Bruce leaves his steamer outside that port and does not proceed to Peking with all his soldiers. Guarantee Bruce's safety as peace has now been reached.
