Hsü Kuang-chin to Bonham. On being notified on 28 February [by Consul Bowring] of steamer having arrived on 19 February, and having tried to avoid paying customs duties, Hoppo sent officers to steamer which then paid full customs duties on its consignment of coral. Since customs duties have been fully paid, fine is unnecessary.
