Hsü Kuang-chin to Bonham. Colonel [K'un-shou] was present in the negotiations at Hu-men on 28 Apr 1848 and again on board British warship on 1 Feb 1849, while Governor Yeh, during his years of office as Provincial Treasurer, never received a Consul. In receiving Consuls, it is rank and not position that matters.
