Description (What the record is about)

Pottinger to Ch'eng Yü-ts'ai. It is possible that British man-of-war has been to Hai-men to survey waters as he and Ch'i-ying have agreed that coastal waters should be surveyed. As to name of captain of vessel involved, does not know it personally, but if Ch'eng forwards card left by captain, Pottinger might be able to provide further information.
