Pottinger to Ch'i Kung. English version of Art. 6 of trade agreement differs from Chinese. Subsequent meetings between Consul at Amoy and local authorities come to conclusion that all ships, on entering port, should pay tonnage dues and pilot fees; however, their cargo should be taxed according to quantity landed or sold to local shipping, but not that still on board. Encl. English version of Art 6 translated into Chinese, n.d.
