Description

Chu-erh-hang-a to C. Elliot. Transmits edict by Lin Tse-hsü and Teng T'ing-cheng: En-i-t'u [Endicott?] must be sent back to England as soon as possible; Chinese authorities in Nan-ao reported seven foreign vessels raising anchor but only two have arrivedat Hu-men; they have stayed at Hu-men for over one month and Johnston should go in person to urge their captains to go to Hu-men to surrender opium.
