Miscellaneous papers and books of, and proceedings relating to John Turner of Bedford Square, London (ob. 1842), Private Secretary of Sir Charles Frederick (Surveyor-General of the Ordnance), and later a clerk in the Sun Fire Assurance Office (TS 11/49-72). He amassed a considerable fortune and died intestate and of unsound mind. Letters of administration were granted to the Treasury Solicitor on behalf of The Crown. In 1846, proceedings were instituted by George Hillder Turner and others, claiming to be Mr Turner's next-of-kin. In the matter of John Turner, a lunatic. Papers (TS 11/49-72): In addition to shorthand-writer's notes of the proceedings (Boxes 64-69), each box contains papers on a variety of subjects, including account books relating to investments and loans (among others, to John Fitzgerald MP). So far as possible, within such box the papers on each subject have been grouped together.
