1 item (enclosure in despatch no 39, of 15 July 1871, from G D'Arcy, Governor of the Falkland Islands) extracted from CO 78/60. 'The Falkland Islands Surveyed by Capt n William Fitz Roy R.N. Com r William Robinson, and Capt n Barth w James Sulivan 1838-1845'. Scale calculated from latitudes. Compass roses; magnetic variation 1861. Inset: Beauchêne Islands, and coastal views. Engraved by J & C Walker. Published at the Hydrographic Office of the Admiralty, 25 November 1842; additions 1857, 1861. Sold by J D Potter, 31 Poultry, and King Street, Tower Hill, London. A printed note reads: 'Much of this sheet was engraved before the triangulation of the whole group was completed, and therefore some of the positions are slightly inaccurate.' Coloured MS additions indicate lands held by leaseholders (named). Key to colours. Lines and arrows added in red ink. Pencilled Colonial Office registry number in upper right corner: '8729/71'. D'Arcy's despatch no 26 of 29 May 1871 also refers.
