Description

The telegrams were sent to or from the following places: Abadia, Assuan, Berber, Cairo, Darmali, Genenetti [Genetti], Halfa, Korti.

The senders and recipients of the correspondence and telegrams were: Bainbridge [Captain Edmond Guy Tulloch], Bernard [Captain Edgar Edwin], Blakeney [Lieutenant Robert Byron Drury], Chattering, Cochrane [Lieutenant Colonel William Frances Dundolnald], Gatacre [Major General Sir William Forbes], Heygate [Major Robert Henry Gage], Kitchener ['Sirdar' General Horatio Herbert], Napier, Mrs. [wife of Major Robert Frances Ladeveze Napier], Pedley [Captain Oswald Henry], Rawlinson [Captain Sir Henry Seymour], Robinson [Surgeon-Major George Winsor], Sandbach [Captain Arthur Edmund], Seccombe [Captain Archibald Kennedy], Talbot [Major Hon. Milo George].

The majority of the telegrams relate to the sick and wounded. The deaths of Lieutenant Gore (Seaforth Highlanders), Private Hale [152 Cromwell Street, Birmingham] and Private H Pettipher (1st Battalion Warwickshire Regiment), Private G Stagpool (Cameron Highlanders), Private W Claydon (1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment) and Private Jackman (Army Service Corps) were reported.
