2 items (originally accompanying reports from Colonel G G Lewis to the Inspector General of Fortifications, August 1849) extracted from WO 44/573. Hampshire: Winchester. Two sketch maps: (1) 'Sketch shewing in yellow the line of drains from the Barracks constructed in 1847'; (2) 'Sketch shewing the position of Mr Simond's House and Mills': showing barracks and barrack drains. Reference table to item (1). Both items to scale: 1 inch to about 207.5 feet. Compass indicators. Item (1) copied by G H Mulcaster, 21 August 1849. Both items signed by Colonel G G Lewis, Commanding Royal Engineer; item (2) dated 30 August 1849. Dimensions: (1) 50 cm x 71 cm; (2) 50 cm x 75 cm.
