2 items extracted from WO 44/128. Kent: Hythe. (1) 'Hythe. Sketch shewing the mode in which the Corporation of Hythe are desirous of continuing the road eastward from Stade Street toward the road running southward from the east end of the Town'. Scale: 1 inch to 2 chains. Compass indicator. Signed by James H Freeth, Captain, Royal Engineers, to accompany his report of 11 October 1853 to the Inspector General of Fortifications. (2) A copy of (1), to which was added on 4 December 1853 a reference table to Ordnance boundaries; land leased from the Corporation of Hythe; and land the Corporation wished to acquire. Signed by C O Streatfield, Lieutenant Colonel, Commanding Royal Engineer to accompany his letter of 5 December 1853 to the Inspector General of Fortifications.
