2 items extracted from WO 44/519. Malta. (1) 'Plan, shewing the Archway, which covers that part of the main road, leading from Valletta to Floriana ...'. The plan is stated to be at a scale of 1 inch to 60 feet [1:720], with inset detail at 1 inch to 120 feet [1:1,440]; the correct scales are almost certainly plan 1 inch to 120 feet [1:1,440], detail 1 inch to 60 feet [1:720]. (2) Plan and section of the archway. Scale: 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]. Both drawings were originally enclosed in letter of 27 October 1837 from George Cardew, Colonel, Commanding Royal Engineer.
