Description

1 item (enclosure in General Sir W Codrington's despatch of 20 March 1856) extracted from WO 1/383. Russia: Balaklava (now in Ukraine). 'Plan of the Camp of the Commissariat Branch of the Army Works Corps, near Balaklava': shows officers' quarters, stores etc, and parts destroyed by fire. Compass indicator. Annotated: 'This tracing was made to illustrate the report of the Proceedings of a Court of Inquiry into the origin of a fire which took place in the Camp on the night on Monday, the 17 th March, 1856.' Signed by F Wakefield, Principal Superintendent, 19 March 1856.
