'International Communication between England and the Continent. 1869': portfolio containing five drawings by John Fowler, James Abernethy and William Wilson, engineers. Lithographed by Kell Brothers, Castle Street, Holborn, London. Each sheet stamped in the office of the Inspector General of Fortifications. (1) 'General Chart of Channel': shows the coast of Kent between Rye and Ramsgate and the coast of France between Boulogne and Gravelines; soundings, snads, lights; towns, railways; proposed cross-Channel link. Scale: 4 inches to 10 miles [1:158,400]. Compass rose. (2) 'Proposed Water Station at Dover': plan showing street names, existing and proposed harbours, proposed junction with the London, Chatham and Dover Railway. Scale: 10 inches to 2,100 feet [1:2520]. (3) 'Proposed Water Station at Audresselles': plan of harbour and breakwater. Scale: 7 inches to 1,600 feet [1:2494]. Compass indicator. (4) 'Design for Ferry Boats': plan and sections. Scale: 5.4 inches to 110 feet [1:244]. (5) 'View of Proposed Water Station at Dover'.
