Description

St Christopher, West Indies. (1) 'Report of the state and condition of the Buildings retained in the Treasury Department in 1823': copy of report originally made by H R Brandreth, Lt RE, Engineer's Office, St Christopher's, 21 April 1823, and accompanying letter of 7 November 1849 from W C Ward, Lt Col CRE West Indies, to the Inspector General of Fortifications. Four folios. (5) 'Brimstone Hill, S t. Christophers': plan also showing boundary of Government land; surrounding cane lands; roads. Scale: 1 inch to 100 toises. Copy of original signed by Henry Rowland Brandreth, Lt RE. Signed by W Murray, CRE Drawing Room, Barbados, 24 May 1823. (6) 'Plan of the Public Buildings on Brimstone Hill, S t Christophers'. Shows Ordnance and Treasury buildings, and distinguishes buildings of masonry from those of wood. Reference table to water tanks and new hospital buildings. scale: 1 inch to 100 feet. Copy of original signed by Henry Rowland Brandreth, Lt RE. Compass indicator added in pencil. (7) 'Sketch of the Garrison, and Position of Brimstone-Hill St. Christopher': plan and section. Shows Government land appropriated to military purposes; surrounding land, coast, roads, Mount Misery. Scale: 1 inch to 600 ft. Compass indicator. Signed by Henry Rowland Brandreth, Lt RE, St Kitts, January 1824. (8) 'Brimstone Hill St. Christopher': plan showing ordnance and Treasury buildings; buildings condemned; water tanks. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to 100 feet. Signed by Henry Rowland Brandreth, Lt RE, September 1823. All sheets stamped in the office of the Board of Ordnance; (5-7) also stamped in the office of the Inspector General of Fortifications. Dimensions of sheets: (1-4) 37.5 cm x 24 cm; (5) 27.9 cm x 33 cm; (6) 51.8 cm x 74.2 cm; (7) 57.1 cm x 46.5 cm; (8) 48.5 cm x 59.7 cm.
