Namur (now in Belgium). 'Plan de la Ville, Chateau et Environs de Namur'. Reference table to bastions, gates, principal buildings. Scale: 5.7 cm to 1,100 pieds; three other scales have been added: in English feet, with the note 'Scale to which the Survey is to be plotted', probably in 1815 (this is about 1 inch to 404 feet [1:4,848]); in French feet; and in toises. Title and reference table in a rectangle at upper right corner. This map appears to date from the 18th century, earlier than 1795 (the year of the introduction of the metric system) and, from the style of lettering, perhaps as early as 1760.
