'West of Dorking'; 'Contoured Survey...': map series showing roads, waterways, railways, buildings, place names, woodland, fields and contours. Scale: 6 inches to 1 mile. Surveyed by detachments of Royal Engineers, variously under the superintendence of Lieutenant Sanford and Captains Festing, Crossman and Steward, Royal Engineers; under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel William F Drummond Jervois, Royal Engineers, Deputy Director of Works (Fortifications), 1860-1867. Zincographed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1861-1867. MS colouring of features. All sheets were 'Compiled partly from Tithe Maps corrected to date on the ground, but not strictly accurate'.
