Annotated: 'Most humbly submitted for Your Majestys approval...Panmure [Lord Panmure, Secretary of State for War]', War Office, 7 July 1857. (2) 'N o. 12'; 'Southampton Water Proposed General Military Hospital'. Scale: 1 inch to 30 feet. Both signed by R O Mennie, Surveyor, War Office, Whitehall, dated on (2) 15 May 1856; by R M Laffan, RE, Deputy Inspector General of Fortifications, dated on (1) 4 July 1857; and by General Sir J F Burgoyne, Bt [Baronet] GCB [Knight of the Bath], Royal Engineers, Inspector General of Fortifications. Both annotated: 'Appr d Victoria R [Queen Victoria]'; and endorsed: 'Approved by The Queen 1856 & 1857'.
