Description

Hampshire: Portsmouth. Four plans of fortifications showing Ordnance land and buildings. (1) 'N o 3': plan of Portsea lines. Reference note. Compass indicator. (2) 'N o 2': plan of Tipner and Stampshaw Points. (3) Outline plan of Gosport Weevil and Priddy's Hard fortifications. Inset: Charles Fort, Gosport; scale: 1 inch to 50 feet. Plan number missing. (4) 'N o 1': plan of Portsmouth and dock fortifications. Compass indicator. Reference table. Scales: (1) 1 inch to 400 feet; (2)-(4) 1 inch to 200 feet. All annotated: 'to accompany Major General Evelegh's Report to General Morse [Inspector General of Fortifications] dated 31 st March 1811'; signed John Evelegh, Commanding Royal Engineer. 'Endorsement on (4): '...6 Drawings'. Dimensions: (1)-(2) 28.4 cm x 47.8 cm; (3) 53.3 cm x 127 cm; (4) 66.5 cm x 95.5 cm.
