Ionian Islands: Corfu (or Kérkira, now in Greece). 'Corfu Project for completing the land defences of the town': showing military boundary, boundary of War Department property, military and civil buildings, lines of fire and soundings. Reference table. Scale: 14.4 inches to 800 yards [1:2,000]. Compass indicator. Annotated: 'In pursuance of the order of the I.G.F. dated Sep t. 4 th 1856, & Sep t. 4 th 1857. This plan has been compiled from old plans in the RE Office Corfu, and therefore shows only the general position and form of the proposed defences': signed Captain Thomas Bernard Collinson, RE, 18 January 1858; to accompany memorandum and letter to the Inspector General of Fortifications, 8 February 1858.
