Kent. (1) 'Plan of the River Medway with the Fortifications ...': showing area from Sheerness to Rochester with the adjacent fortifications. Scale: 3.17 inches to 1 mile [1:20,000]. Compass roses. Copy signed by Thomas Chamberlain [?mid 18th century-?late 18th century]. (2)-(4) Similar versions to (1); (2) and (4) embellished with drawings of ships; unsigned, possibly of earlier date. All endorsed: 'Col. Lilly' [?Colonel Christian Lilly, Colonel in 1705, died 1738]; although these plans are thought to post date this. The plans appear to be based upon the plan now MPHH 1/76/2; which is itself based upon a survey by Greenville Collins of 1688 (see MPHH 1/25).
