(1) View of the Rock of Gibraltar from the north side, with ships in the bay, English flag flying on the harbour wall and the Spanish hills in background. (2) 'A View of the South Part of the Mountain of Gibraltar'; showing fortifications including the Old Mole and New Mole Forts, Moorish lines and castle, lines of Charles V, 'Remains of an Ancient Light-house, Supposed to be Built by the Carthaginians', ships in the bay and the Spanish coast in the background. Painted by Henry Gilder in 1781, after a sketch by Lieutenant General Skinner, Chief Engineer of the Garrison, 1740. From the papers of Jeffrey, 1st Baron Amherst. Dimensions: (1) 52.7 cm x 168.9 cm; (2) 54 cm x 144.8 cm.
