Description

2 items (formerly filed with a copy of a procès-verbal concerning the boundaries of Montenegro) extracted from FO 93/110/13B. South-Eastern Europe. 2 similar maps (of territory now in Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Albania): (1) 'Sketch of the frontiers of Albania, the Herzegovina and the Montenegro, drawn up under the direction of the Commissioners appointed to ascertain the status quo of 1856'; (2) 'Tracé de la ligne frontière entre l'Herzegovine l'Albanie et le Monténégro ...'; both showing the extent of Montenegro according to the procès-verbal signed at Constantinople (now Istanbul, Turkey), 27 October / 8 November 1858. Scale: (1) 1:158,400; (2) 1:100,000. Compass indicators to both items. Item 1 drawn by Henry A Churchill, CB, November 1858; item 2 drawn by Lieutenant H S Sitwell, Royal Engineers. Signed: (1) Fuad, Ottoman Minister for Foreign Affairs; (2) Major Jovanovic, H Hecquard, Major F E Cox (Royal Engineers), Baron von Lichtenberg, C Pertcovitz, Safvet [Husseim Pasha] and Corsboga Remarz Cykomitz, Ragusa, 2 February 1860. Endorsed: (1) 'Incl. in Sir H. Bulwer's No. 366 of 17 Nov./58'; (2) 'Inclosure in Major Cox's despatch No. 18. 21 May 1860'. Dimensions: (1) 97 cm x 79 cm; (2) 152 cm x 93.5 cm.
