Description

3 items extracted from WO 204/422. Yugoslavia, Italy and Austria. Three maps of parts of the Venezia Giulia region, the Istrian peninsula and surrounding territory: (1) parts ofeight sheets joined, together covering the area between Villach, Ziri (now in Slovenia), and Umago (now Umag, Croatia); (2) parts of two sheets joined, together showing the coast (now in Croatia) between Cape Barbariga and Cape Promontore (now Cape Kamenjak), including the environs of Pola (now Pula), and areas immediately inland; (3) ['Gorizia']: showing the area between Cormons, Aidussina (now Ajdovscina, Slovenia), and the mouth of the River Isonzo. Scale: (1,3) 1:100,000; (2) 1:50,000. [?Produced by the American [United States] Army Map Service]. A printed note to item (3) states: 'For use by War, Air and Navy Departments Agencies only'. MS additions to items (1-2) show the boundary [the so-called 'Morgan line'] between the area proposed to be under the Yugoslav administration and the area proposed to be under Allied [i.e. British and American] administration, as agreed by General D Morgan (on behalf of the Supreme Allied Commander, Mediterranean Theatre) and General A Javanovic (on behalf of the Supreme Commander, Yugoslav Army), 20 June 1945. MS additions to item (3) show an area within the Allied zone proposed to be controlled by a Yugoslav detachment. Dimensions: (1) 54 cm x 151 cm; (2) 43 cm x 64 cm; (3) 41.5 cm x 32.5 cm. Originally appendices to a copy of the 'Morgan-Javanovic' Agreement.
