Description

5 items (originally enclosed with a copy of the first Half-Yearly Sleeping Sickness Extended Investigations Report for 1906) extracted from CO 885/18/7. Uganda. (1) Map of the Uganda protectorate showing the distribution of sleeping sickness and glossina palpalis and the numbers of deaths in various areas in 1905; also showing the terrain, rivers and towns. (2) Map of the Nile province, showing the distribution of tsetse flies. (3) 2 maps on one sheet, together covering western and southern Uganda, showing the distribution of tsetse flies. (4) Map of the protectorate showing district and province boundaries, deaths from sleeping sickness in 1905, and the intensity of the infection in coastal and inland areas. (5) Map of the Entebbe peninsula, showing contours, vegetation, the distribution of native peoples, and areas infested with and areas now cleared of tsetse flies. Reference tables to all items; reference note to item 4 on the possible inaccuracy of the topographical information. Scale: (1) 1 inch to 10 miles [1:633,600]; (4) 1 inch to 30 miles [1: 1,900,800]. Compass indicator to item 5. Items 1 and 4 lithographed by Weller and Graham Ltd, 1906; 'Printed from W.O. [War Office] stones'. Items 2-3 and 5 [printed at] the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1907. Dimensions: (1) 105 cm x 85 cm; (2-3) each 33 cm x 20 cm; (4) 37 cm x 40 cm; (5) 21 cm x 32 cm.
