Kent: Sheerness. 4 sheets of plans and sections of proposed defences: (1) a tower on Barrow Hill; (2) redoubts for the flanks; (3) a redoubt with a revetment [i.e. a facing or retaining wall]; (4) defence works at the dockyard. Scale: (1) 1 inch to 5 feet [1:60]; (2-3) 1 inch to 40 feet [1:480]; (4) 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200]. Compass indicator to item (4). All items drawn by [Samuel] B Howlett, Royal Navy. Dimensions: (1) 98 cm x 66 cm; (2) 64 cm x 81.5 cm; (3) 62.5 cm x 52.5 cm; (4) 119.5 cm x 144 cm.
