'Ordnance Plan of Part of Shoeburyness in the County of Essex': map comprising four joined sheets, showing acreages. Reference table to the conversion of decimal parts of acres into rods and perches. Surveyed and lithographed under the direction of Captain A de C Scott, Royal Engineers, Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton; published in April 1859. MS additional reference table to the acreage and use of numbered land lots. Unexplained pencilled additions in the area surrounding the Royal Artillery barracks. A pencilled note gives the approximately equivalent scale of 1 inch to 100 feet.
This is the earliest known Ordnance Survey map produced at the 1:1,250 scale.
