'Plan of Simons Bay shewing the Positions of the New Batteries constructed there ...': map of Simon's Town and its immediate environs (now Simonstown in Western Cape province, South Africa). Reference table to defences. Scale: 1 inch to about 200 yards. Compass indicator. Signed by Captain J Carmichael-Smythe, Royal Engineers, on behalf of Lieutenant General Moore, nspector General of Fortifications. The batteries were constructed on the order of His Excellency Lieutenant General Sir David Baird, K C, Commander-in-Chief, Cape of Good Hope.
