Hampshire: Portsmouth. 6 sheets of plans, elevations and sections of works at the Round Tower Fort: (1) officers' quarters and outbuildings; (2) soldiers' barracks; (3) the tower and adjacent fortifications; (4) outline site plan; (5) battery and flank; (6) site plan, showing details of each building and the layout of gas and water pipes, with a longitudinal section of the drainage system. Scale: (1-3, 5 [plan only], 6) 1 inch to 8 feet [1:96]; (4) 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]; (5 [sections]) 1 inch to 4 feet [1:48]. Compass indicator to item (6). Item (6) traced by George H Lancaster, 2 August 1847. All items signed by Captain R Tylden, Royal Engineers, 3 August 1847; items (1-5) also signed by Colonel [?]Cardew. Additional note, to item (6), concerning the authorization, modification and cost of the works; note initialled G F, 14 September 1847. Overlay to item (4) showing a modification in the alignment of the retired face joining the tower to the flank. These drawings wee originally enclosed in a letter from Colonel G G Lewis to the Inspector General of Fortifications, 6 August 1847.
