Ireland: County Dublin: Hill of Howth (Binn Éadair). Four sheets of drawings of proposed defences. (1-2) Two sections of the bastioned front. (3-4) Two copies of a sheet bearing a plan of the entire defences, showing field boundaries and soundings, and a section; substantial damage to the lower right corner of item (3). Scale: (1-2) 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]; (3-4) 1 inch to 400 feet [1:4,800]. Compass indicators to items (3-4). Item (3) signed by Lieutenant-General Gother Mann; item (4) copied [from item (3)] by R S [Richard Searle] and S B H [Samuel B Howlett]. Dimensions: (1) 24 cm x 58.5 cm; (2) 25 cm x 59 cm; (3) 144.5 x 112.5 cm; (4) 144.5 cm x 119 cm. Item (3) originally produced to accompany a Royal Engineers committee report, 15 November 1810; the report is not filed on this roll.
