Wales. 2 sheets of the Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 County Series joined: Glamorganshire LI.12 and LII.9; the combined map shows Flat Holm Island in the Bristol Channel. Surveyed by Captain H C Reynolds, Royal Engineers, 1878; levelled by Captain W Wynne, Royal Engineers; zincographed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, under the superintendence of Lieutenant Colonel C P Carey, Royal Engineers, 1879. A printed note states: 'For War Department purposes only'. Coloured MS additions highlight and label fortifications and military buildings; pencilled reference notes. Signed by [?W] Pethick, 19 February 1880; and by Colonel [?Porter], Commanding Royal Engineer, 2 February and 21 February 1880.
