Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire, West Riding. 8 sheets of the Ordnance Survey one-inch Old Series England and Wales joined: [LXXXVIII SE, LXXXVIII SW, LXXXVII SW], LXXXVII SE, [LXXXI NW, LXXXI NE, LXXXII NW and LXXXII NE]; together comprising a map of the area between Rochdale, Stainforth, East Retford and Alderley. Piano-key border. Scale: 1 inch to 1 mile. Engraved at the Ordnance Survey Office, Tower of London, by J Adkins, A Baker, G Baker, J W Froggett, F George, J A Harrison and J Peake; published, June 1840 - [September 1843]; this version electotyped 1867-1870. MS additions, coloured, highlight railways and some rivers, reservoirs and canals. Endorsed: 'The Peak. Derbyshire. One-inch map showing Railways and Principal Rivers and Canals. 1871'; this apparently refers to the date of the MS additions and to the fact that the area covered includes the northern half of the Peak District.
