Canada: Nova Scotia. Two maps comprising sheets of an Ordnance Survey map. (1) Sheet County Halifax IV.13, showing the military prison on Melville island and areas to the south. (2) Four joined sheets: County Halifax IV.6, [IV.10] and parts of IV.5 and [IV.9], showing the town and harbour area. Both sheets give the names of the proprietors of land lots and wharves. Reference tables to government and private buildings, telegraph lines, and the boundaries of War Department property, on both items. Zincographed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton. A printed note states: 'For War Department purposes only'. Coloured overprinting to both items, showing 10-foot contours. MS additions, coloured, to item (2), showing the scheme of arrangement for new Barrack Atlas plans of military establishments, including Fort Needham, Wellington Barracks and Fort George; the War Office docket book dates the additions to 1900. Brief pencilled notes to both items. Dimensions: (1) 73 cm x 105.5 cm; (2) 138 cm x 169 cm.
