3 items extracted from CO 179/137. Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa). 2 railway maps and 1 section. (1) 'Natal Government Railways. Plan of Ladysmith Township shewing approximate routes of Railway and proposed sites of Road Bridges'. Scale: 1 inch to about 300 yards. Signed: George Shortrede, District Engineer, 5 February 1866. (2) 'Section of Klip River at proposed site of Road Bridge'. Scale: 1 inch to 30 feet [1:360]. (3) Map of Ladysmith and areas immediately to the south, showing the layout of the railway line, a possible diversion, and the direction of an extension towards Newcastle. Scale: 1 inch to 800 yards [1:28,800]. Compass star; west at the top. Dimensions: (1) 98 cm x 1590 cm; (2) 26 cm x 36 cm; (3) 42 cm x 40 cm.
