Cape Colony: Cape Town (now in Western Cape province, South Africa). 'Plan of the Town and Fortifications at the Cape of Good Hope'. Reference table to defences. Scale: 1 inch to about 180 yards. Compass indicator. Marked 'Copy'. Endorsed with the name of Captain Henry Smart, Royal Engineers. The date and signature originally on the face of the map have mostly perished away; a date of 1812 is supplied in the War Office maps docket book (which was the original means of reference to the War Office maps).
