Description

49 items, comprising 1 unnumbered sheet and 48 sheets numbered 401-417, 418a, 419a, 419b, 420-423, 424a, 424b, 425, 426a, 426b, 427-445. Mesopotamia (now in Iraq); Persia (now Iran). (401) 'Bedrah [Badrah] to Jessan [Jassan] Aero. Reports from May 18th to Nov. 9th [1916]': front cover; MS, coloured; stamped by the Committee of Imperial Defence, Historical Section, Air Branch.
(403, 422, 424a, 429-430, 433, 440, 442-444) 10 copies of a Heliozincographed, coloured, map, comprising 4 joined sheets, which are sheets 2G, 2H, 2K and 2L only of a map on multiple sheets. The combined map covers the area between 32° and 34°N and between 45° and 47°E, showing the River Tigris (Nahr Dijlah) between Al Aziziyah (now in Wasit province, Iraq) and Al Kumayt (now in Maysan province Iraq), and areas north of this as far as Mandali (now in Diyala province, Iraq) and Chardavol (now in Ilam province, Iran); also showing other waterways, marshland, settlements, routes, telegraph lines, trigonometrical stations, etc. Reference tables; indexes to neighbouring sheets. Scale: 1 inch to 4 miles. Heliozincographed at the Survey of India Offices, Calcutta; 'Rough Provisional Issue', published under the superintendence of Colonel Sir S G Burrard, Surveyor General, 1914-1915. Different MS additions, coloured, to each item.
(402, 418a) 2 copies of a map comprising the joined sheets 2G, 2H and 2L, and thus omitting the area between Chardavol and Changuleh. (407, 413, 437) 3 copies of sheet 2L, covering the area around Shaykh Sa'd and Al Kumayt; item 413 is cut at the east and west edges. (412) Sheet 2H, covering the area around Al Aziziyah, Kut al Amarah (now Al Kut) and Jassan. (415) Map consisting of the joined sheets 2K and 2L, covering the area between Chardavol and Al Kumayt. (419a) Map consisting of the joined sheets 2G, 2K and 2L, and thus omitting the area around Al Aziziyah, Kut al Amarah and Jassan. (426a) Sheet 2G, covering the area around Mandali and Badrah. Different MS additions, coloured, to each of these maps.
(404-6, 408-411, 414, 416-417, 418b, 420-421, 423, 424b, 425, 426b, 427-428, 431-432, 434-436, 438-439, 441, unnumbered) 28 sheets of Aircraft Reconnaissance Reports [?from the 3rd Indian Army Corps]; MS and printed.
