Burma (now Myanmar). 10 maps of parts of the north-east of the country, covering portions of the area around Bhamo, Hsipaw, Indaw, Katha, Kutkai, Lashio, Mogok, Myitkyina, Sikaw and Tagaung, variously showing troop movements, settlements and rivers. Items (1, 3, 5-7, 9-10) marked: 'Secret'. All items produced: 'By Command of Lieut. Gen. Sultan R.M. Cannon Brig. Gen. U.S.A. C. of S. [Chief of Staff]'. [By] (1, 3-4, 6-9) Colonel Thomas H Davies; (2, 5) Colonel Joseph W Stilwell Junior; (10) Colonel Thomas F Van Natta III. Item (1) has been amended with correction fluid.
Originally produced as operational overlays accompanying Field Orders numbered 19-20 and 22-25 for the Northern Combat Area Command of the Allied Land Forces, South-East Asia, November 1944-April 1945. These overlays were apparently produced for use in conjunction with American military maps; no copies of the base maps have been identified among the holdings of The National Archives.
