Essex and Suffolk. 3 items. (1, 3) Two maps of the coast between Saint Osyth's Point and Aldeburgh: (1) 'Plan shewing the Position of the Martello Towers, Batteries, & c. in the Eastern District. From No.1, to No.27'; (3) 'No.2. Copy of a Plan which accompanied Major Bryce's Report ...': showing roads, place names, shoals, soundings, and (marked with letters) the sites for martello towers proposed by committees in January 1806 and April 1808; damaged at the right-hand edge. (2) Reference table to the lettered and numbered points shown on (1) and (3); dated 6 May 1808. Scale: (1) 1 inch to 1 mile [1:63,360]; (3) 2 inches to 1 mile [1:31,680]. Item (1) by W J Kaye, Royal Military Surveyor and Draughtsman, August 1816. Item (3) by A H Chamberlain and G D Burr, 1808. Pencilled additions to item (1) marking each numbered tower with the same letter given to it on item (3); pencilled note on buildings sold in March 1835. Pencilled corrections to item (3), dated 29 November 1836. Dimensions: (1) 66.5 cm x 99 cm; (2) 32 cm x 20 cm; (3) 67.5 cm x 194.5 cm.
