Description

Hampshire: Portsea Island. Seven sheets of plans and drawings of defences for the docks. (1) 'Plan of Portsea Lake, shewing the Situation of the Batteries and Line executed for the Defence of that Pass': also shows parts of Portsmouth and Langstone Harbours. (2) Sheet of sections and profiles related to item (3). (3) 'Design for Fortifying Portsmouth Dock': plan. (4) Sheet of elevations and sections related to item (3). (5) 'Design for a Casemated Redout [sic]': elevation, section and two plans of a redoubt. (6) Damaged copy of part of item (3). (7) 'Design for a Fort at Portsea Bridge near Portsmouth': plan. Scale: (1) 1 inch to 400 feet [1:4,800]; (2) [sections], (4) 1 inch to 25 feet [1:300]; (3, 6-7) 1 inch to 200 feet [1:2,400]; (5) 1 inch to 30 feet [1:360]. Compass indicator to item (1). Item (1) Surveyed by William Dundas and drawn by Daniel Slack, 1756. Item (2) by Will [?William] Roy, Engineer.
