4 items extracted from WO 55/427 (folios 366-369). Lancashire and Cheshire. (1) 'A survey of the town of Liverpool and River Mersey from thence to the sea A.D 1759': map of land on both sides of the river, showing the site of batteries proposed to be built to defend the harbour: at Nova Scotia Quay, the old church, and the entrance of the gut; also shows streets, buildings, docks, the high water line and soundings. Reference table to batteries. Scale: 1 inch to 400 feet [1:4,800]. Compass indicator. An overlay attached to the face of the map shows a battery proposed to be built on the site of the Old Mill.
(2-4) Three sheets of plans, elevations and sections of the four batteries: (2) plan and section of the battery at the Old Mill site; (3) plans of the other three batteries; (4) details of individual accommodation and storage buildings. Scale: 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200] (Old Mill battery plan only); 1 inch to 40 feet [1:480] (remainder). Items (2) and (4) drawn by William Pratt.
