2 items (originally enclosed with a letter from Lieutenant Governor William Sorell to Lord Bathurst) extracted from CO 201/103. Australia: Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania). 2 maps showing the coastline, rivers and creeks, hills and mountains, settlements, and lettered land districts and numbered land plots: (1) covering Hobart and neighbouring settlements in the vicinity of the Derwent River; (2) covering the area from the Shannon River and the Jones River in the west, to the Carlton River in the east, and from the Jordan River and York plains in the north to North-West Bay in the south. Both items to scale: 2 inches to 3 miles. Compass indicators to both items. Item 1 surveyed by G W Evans, Deputy Surveyor General, Hobart, 1920; item 2 dated 1921. Dimensions: (1) 80 cm x 63 cm; (2) 107 cm x 116 cm.
