Ottoman and Persian Empires. 'Map of the countries between the Mediterranean and the Gulf of Persia in the line of the Euphrates [Al Furat] Tigris [Nahr Dijlah] and Kuran [Rud-e Karun]': map of the area (now in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait and Iran), between Iskenderun in the north-west, Diyarbakir in the north, Kermanshar in the east, and Bubiyan Island in the south-east, showing waterways, settlements, deserts and the distribution of native peoples. Based on surveys made during an expedition under Commander H Blosse Lynch, Indian Navy; compiled and drawn by Lieutenant Felix Jones, Indian Navy. Two small sheets of related notes are also filed on this roll; these notes were copied (from originals dated 20 February 1847) at the Chief Engineers Office, Bombay, 15 February 1848.
