Description

1 item extracted from WARD 2/61/241/31 (survey of the honour of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire). Plan of the honour, extending roughly from Berkhamsted to Aldbury and across Berkhamsted Common as far as Ashridge, showing field-names, proprietors, gates, roads, woods, villages. The castle, Berkhamsted Place, churches and other principal buildings are shown in plan or perspective. Reference table to features of castle. Acreage shown by two codes, one in which the numbers 1 to 9 are represented by the letters CRIST HELP, the other by a series of symbols. Scale: about 1 inch to 130 yards. The plan is by John Norden, who signed the survey.
