Gibraltar. 5 sheets of plans and drawings of proposed defences. (1) 'Plan No 1 of the New Fortifications constructing on the Northern Fronts of the Garrison of Gibraltar shewing their present state 19th May 1803': showing streets, buildings and named defences. (2) 'No 2. Plan of the New Works executing on the Northern Fronts of Gibraltar; shewing the manner in which they are proposed to be completed: Also the projected Casemated Barracks for Officers and Soldiers. 18th May 1803'. (3) 'No 3. Ground Plan of the masonry in the Casemates, Revetments and Retaining Walls of the New Works executing on the Northern Fronts of Gibraltar; and of those proposed in the projected new Landport Fronts and Casemated Barracks for Officers and Soldiers. 18th May 1803'. (4) 'No 4. Plan, Elevation and Section of the proposed Casemated Barracks for Soldiers': sheet also bearing six further sections through the proposed new works. (5) 'No 5. Ground Plan and Sections of the proposed Lunette, and part of the Counterguards, in the new Project for re-building The Landport Front'; title and scale bar to the plan in a panel above the upper border. Scale: (1-3) 1 inch to 50 feet [1:600]; (4) and plan of (5) 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]; sections of (5) 1 inch to 10 feet [1:120]. Items (1-3) are original maps, drawn by C McDonald and signed by Lieutenant Colonel William Fyers, Commanding Royal Engineer; (4-5) are copies, dated 29 March 1803, of maps that were signed by Fyers. Small overlay to item (1), showing an amendement near Forbes's Barrier. Dimensions: (1) 61 cm x 148 cm; (2-3) each 61 cm x 94 cm; (4) 50 cm x 63 cm; (5) 52 cm x 59 cm.
