Description

Saint Christopher (now part of Saint Kitts and Nevis). 7 sheets of plans and drawings of defences. (1) 'General plan of Brimstone Hill, shewing the works and buildings already erected with those proposed for completing the defences'; reference table. (2) Plan of Fort George, showing its division into rooms, with a proposed magazine and casements, and a proposed advanced battery. (3) 'Section through Fort George with the West and East Places of Arms and the Proposed Magazine with the Advanced Battery'. (4) 'Monkey Hill, Fort Charlotte: plan and section. (5) 'Plan Section and Elevation of The Prince of Wales's Bastion'. (6) 'Plan and section, shewing the Grand Range of Casemates, the Grand Cistern, with the Platform for Collecting Water, the Proposed Additional Cistern, and Arcade, with the Bridges over the Area, in front of the Officers Quarters'. (7) Plans and sections of a barrier redoubt and magazine bastion. Scale: (1) 1 inch to about 35 yards [1:1,260]; (2-3) 1 inch to 10 feet [1:120]; (4-7) 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]. Compass indicator to item (1). Items (3-7) by Monins W Harcup, Royal Engineers. Overlay to item (2), depicting the walls and interior of the fort differently from the base plan. Dimensions: (1) 56.5 cm x 85 cm; (2) 73 cm x 132 cm; (3) 36.5 cm x 148 cm; (4) 72 cm x 51.5 cm; (5) 45 cm x 56.5 cm; (6) 56.5 cm x 73.5 cm; (7) 54.5 cm x 75.5 cm. Originally enclosed with a letter from Lieutenant Colonel Shipley to Mr Crew, 10 January 1800; this letter is not preserved on this roll.
