Straits of Gibraltar. Map of Gibraltar and parts of the Spanish and North African coasts (the latter area now chiefly in Morocco), showing the nature of the terrain, shipping, fortifications and houses, the last depicted in a stylised perspective resembling Oriental art. Reference notes to numbered and lettered points in the Barbary States, Gibraltar and Spain. Sightlines; [east at the top]. Endorsed with the title: '... Description of Gibraltar and its Fortifications & c on that part of the Coast of Spain in the Streights - Also a description of the Coast of Barbary from Cape Spartel to Ceuta'. Originally enclosed with a letter from Mr Montresor to the Duke of Montagu, 7 April 1748; this letter is not preserved on this roll.
