Two (differently coloured) copies of a map: 'March of the Royal Army in Scotland with an exact Plan of their different encampments from Cullen to the Isle of Skie [Skye]', covering the area - in Inverness-shire, Nairnshire, Morayshire and Banffshire (now in Highland and Moray) - between Loch Duich and the River Spey. Scale: 6 inches to 7 miles. Compass indicator. (1) By D Paterson, [?1746]; (2) probably made at a later date. Insets: (i) plans of encampments at: Inverness, Nairn and Cullen, and the northern and southern ends of Loch Ness; (ii) plan of the battlefield at Culloden [16 April 1746], showing the positions and movements of Jacobite and British Army forces. Insets to scale: 1 inch to 350 yards [1:12,600]. Dimensions: (1) 51 cm x 148 cm; (2) 48 cm x 144.5 cm.
