'[La Bataille de No]rdlingen donnée le troisiesme jour d'Aoust 1645 ...': a single sheet bearing the following drawings, relating to the victory of French forces, under Louis de Bourbon, Duc d'Enghien, over the Holy Roman Empire, 30 August 1645, as part of the Thirty Years' War: (i) The upper portion of the sheet: a view showing part of the action; enclosed within an oval wreath of foliage and surmounted by a portrait of the Duke. (ii) The lower portion: 'Ordre de la bataille de Nordlingen': plan showing the order of battle; surrounded by decorative drapery. (iii) Between the two main scenes: views of Nördlingen and 'Dunctelsbuhel' [?i.e. Dinkelsbühl]; in elaborate cartouches. [?Surveyed by] le Sieur de Beaulieu, Engineer, 1646; outlined by Stefano della Bella; [?produced by Jean] Frosne; engraved by [Nicolas] Cochin. Part of the top left-hand corner of the sheet is missing.
