Barbados. One item comprising two joined sheets of plans and sections of Ordnance signal stations. 'No.1': plans of the sites of five stations, showing buildings and boundaries; and a map of the island showing the locations of the stations. 'No.2': plans and sections of the buildings. Scale: 1 inch to 60 links [1:475] (Cotton Tower site); 1 inch to 1 chain [1:792] (Dover Fort and Grenada Hall sites); 1 inch to 2 chains [1:1,584] (Moncrieffe site); 1 inch to 4 chains [1:3,168] (Gun Hill site); 1 inch to about 3 miles [1:190,080]; 1 inch to 10 feet [1:120] (buildings). Compass indicators to the map and site plans. Dated on the dorse: 26 September 1851. A considerable portion of the lower right hand corner of the combined sheet is missing. A note states that this sheet accompanied a letter from Lieutenant Colonel W C Ward, Commanding Royal Engineer, West Indies, to the Inspector General of Fortifications, 2 July 1851.
